The Austin District Music Teachers Association (ADMTA) is a professional organization of music teachers dedicated to the promotion of the art of music and the advancement of musical knowledge throughout the Austin area.
As a new member of ADMTA you will be associated with the very best in the profession. The programs and services are developed with you in mind. The opportunities for networking, career and professional development, peer recognition and student programs are extensive.
Our association is committed to serve our teachers, students and the community by fostering the instruction, study and performance of music with educational programs and numerous student events throughout the year.
This year, there are six meetings held from September through April, usually on the first or second Monday of the months of September, October, December (workshop + luncheon), February, March and April. Meetings feature guest presenters on a variety of interesting pedagogical topics. Non-member teachers are welcome to visit.
This online resource serves our members and the community allowing prospective students to search from our website for teachers according to proximity or areas of expertise.
Mentor support is available for our new and existing members who have questions regarding student events or processes in our association.
ADMTA offers numerous events for student participation:
Festivals (non-competitive events): Jazz/Pop/Rock, Hymn, Piano Ensemble/Chamber Music/Concerto (PECMC), Baroque/Classical, Romantic/Modern/Contemporary
Contests (competitive events with awards): Solo Contest, Steinway Piano Gallery Concerto Contest, Ella Louise Burba Scholarship Contests
Students of ADMTA members may also participate in events sponsored by the state organization (TMTA), such as the All-Star Festival, Ensembles, June Lender Chamber Music/Ensemble Contest and the Whitlock Theory Test. They may enter competitive events such as the State Performance Contest, Original Composition Contest, Publication Contest, World of Music Contest at the local or district level.
